For my first time ever, I did a live radio show AND took in callers’ questions. I’m not going to lie, I was terrified. They scheduled me to speak for a half hour. Those who know me know that I’m not a chatty person. And in all my years writing about and interviewing other people, I only have experience asking the questions, not giving the answers.
Originally, I was scheduled to do All of It with Allison Stewart the day after my book, Margarita Time, came out. But because of a family emergency we had to postpone it a week. But then the day I had to go on, I had to go the ER for a medical issue. So they pushed it back again. In the meantime, I did a few podcast interviews so was able to gain a bit more experience talking about my book and Margaritas. Still. This was live radio. But I knew I had to do it. It’s good to get out of your comfort zone every now and then, and if it helps me sell more books then cool!
So before I went on with the host, I spoke to the producer and she was assuaging any fears I had and amping me up. It was SO helpful! I felt better and my anxiety turned into excitement. And she was right, it was fun! The callers were all lovely. I don’t know if I’d seek out doing live radio again but at least I have this one under my belt.
Give the episode a listen here. We talked all about my book and people called in weighing on being annoyed by “skinny Margaritas” and their hacks for making delicious frozen margaritas.
