Food events usually have lots to drink for oenophiles, leaving avid cocktail lovers, well, thirsty. Unfair! But fortunately at this weekend’s LA Times’ The Taste, in addition to a “secret cocktail lab,” there will be “pop-up bars” featuring some of your favorite L.A. bartenders and their specialty drinks. Each bar will spotlight a sponsored spirit with the bartenders serving two cocktails they’ve created especially for the events. We’re talking some of my personal favorites like Damian Windsor (Warwick) and Christiaan Rollich (AOC)! Here’s the bartender schedule so you know where and when to look for them. Who’s going?
Field to Fork, Saturday, 11am – 3pm
- Damian Windsor (Powerhouse) and Stoli: Moscow Mule variation and Harvey Wallbanger
Dinner With a Twist, Saturday, 7:30 – 11pm
- James Bowers (Soho House) and Veev: Nighttime on Mulholland Drive with Veev, Great Classics bitters, sweet vermouth, lavender tincture and Suzanna with Veev, muddled blueberries, lemon, sugar and thyme.
Sunday Brunch, Sunday, 11am – 3pm
- Nathan Oliver (Butchers & Bakers) and Basil Hayden’s Bourbon: Straw & Basil with Basil Hayden’s, falernum, lime, St.Vincent’s orgeat, mint and Love It or Leave It with Basil Hayden’s, Carpano Antica, Fernet, sugar, Regan’s orange bitters
Flavors of L.A., Sunday, 7:30 – 11pm
- Christiaan Rollich (AOC/Lucques) and Basil Hayden’s Bourbon: Kentucky Wheels with Basil Hayden’s, housemade kola, lemon, Angostura bitters, egg whites and King Bird with Basil Hayden, chicory, cassia bark, maple and sassafras leaves
