Since I’m pretty picky with my cocktails, happy hours never really do it for me. I’d rather pay a little extra for a drink made well than a watered-down happy hour version. And now that I’m a chegan (cheating vegan), well, forget about bar food in general. Fortunately Susan Feniger’s Street is launching brand-new vegetarian AND vegan-friendly happy hour specials tomorrow the 30th! Actually, they’re all vegan except the Kaya Toast and the Tatsutage chicken.
Inspired by Street’s weekly Meatless Monday menus and the need for tasty global vegetarian and vegan food in L.A., co-owner and chef Kajsa Alger and Susan Feniger decided to carry over the concept to happy hour. Huzzah!
Vegetarian Happy Hour Specials $6 Each
- Tatsutage Chicken or Tofu: Japanese fried chicken (or tofu) bites with yuzo kosho sauce
- Spiced Potato Samosas: Tamarind date chutney, mint yogurt, and cucumber chile sauce
- Laundry Day Fritters: Red bean and rice fritters with crystal hot sauce crema and scallion
- Kaya Toast: Singapore toast filled with coconut jam; soft egg, dark soy and white pepper
Drink specials include $5 beer like Lost Coast Downtown Brown and $5 wine by the glass. Happy hour runs Monday through Friday 5 to 7pm.
