Playa cocktail duo Julian Cox and Jeremy Lake teamed up to create “Mexi-China” cocktails to pair with Chef John Sedlar’s new menu which focuses on a fusion of Baja and Cantonese cooking.
Said Jeremy Lake of his menu, “Whether it be the fresh, tart juices in the Chinese 5 Spice sangrita…or the bubbly effervescence and mandarin oil playing with your senses in the Opium cocktail, they all complement the spices and textures in Chef Sedlar’s cuisine.” For your daydreaming pleasure, here he pairs the new cocktails with items from Sedlar’s menu.
New Playa Rivera Mexi-Chinese Cocktail Menu
- 5 Spice Sangrita: blanco tequila, lime, orange, pomegranate, Chinese 5 Spice pairs with the smoked chipotle pork pot stickers
- Opium: tequila, plum wine, champagne, lemon, Mandarin essence pairs with the spring rolls
- Painkiller: dark rum, pineapple, tangelo, coconut cream, nutmeg, saffron essence pairs with the ice cream cookie sandwiches dessert
TONIGHT: Check out the new cocktail menu along with actor/comedian Cheech Marin and Sedlar who will present a three-course menu featuring the new Mexi-Chinese dishes for $35 a person. [Insert Painkiller and Opium joke here.]
