Lots of pretty lights, progressive music, a massive dance floor and drink specials will ignite a new monthly event at Aura Nightclub in Studio City on May 14. Yah, I said in Studio City. As you know I’m not big into nightclubs or the Valley for that matter but when it involves words “Velvet Interactive Playground” that’s enough to get me off my Westside ass. Especially when there are interactive art installations by Eric Gradman of Mindshare Labs.

Mindshare Labs have their own sold-out events that take place on the third Thursday every month downtown so this is going to be an awesome opportunity to check out their illuminated innovations while grooving? boogeying? electric sliding?….how do you dance to trance, techno and house anyway?

The main lounge area boasts an 18-wheeler-sized bar with mirrored shelves and a DJ tower, and cushy red-velvet booths with table service.

There’s a full bar with drink specials in the first hour (9-10pm) so it’s best to get there early. Speaking of early, early bird tickets purchased for the event before May 1 are $25. BUT if you purchase them and enter the code “carolineoncrack” you get a $10 discount, making them only $15! Early bird tickets are limited so better snap them up asap. Fancy folk may be interested in the tickets for dance floor booths ($90) and private VIP booths ($240). (Prices don’t include the processing fees which range from 99 cents to $6.)
