I’ll be in Big Bear starting tomorrow but I found some ways you can entertain yourself this pre-Labor Day Weekend. Is it the end of summer already? Rackin frackin!

Sprinkles’ Almond Dark Chocolate Cupcakes Available for a Limited Time
Sprinkles Cupcakes has finally made a cupcake that’s good for you. Or so the OG cupcake store claims. The Almond Dark Chocolate cupcake is not only made of “nutrient-rich” almond cake but topped with antioxidant-full bittersweet chocolate frosting to boot. Eh, who cares if it’s not exactly what the doctor prescribed. It tastes good!
- Available thru August 31. All Sprinkles locations.
Intelligentsia Coffee & Tea 1st Anniversary Party
The fancy coffee store’s first foray into L.A. is celebrating its first birthday with a little party. Enjoy catering by Silver Lake Wine and Cheese Store of Silver Lake and music by Neighthousand. But the best part has got to be the free espresso and the Clover-brewed coffee. I can’t wait til the Venice location opens in October!
- 7-11pm. 3922 Sunset Boulevard, Silver Lake (map). (323) 663-6173.

Sunset Junction Street Festival
The Sunset Junction street fair, the best street fest of the summer, goes off this weekend. Lots of food, fun and music — three stages, 38 bands and nine DJs. Catch the Cold War Kids at 9:20 on the Bates stage and Sam Moore’s tribute to friend Isaac Hayes at 9:30 on the Hoover Stage.
- Saturday 10am-11pm and Sunday 10am-10pm. 3700-4300 Sunset Boulevard and 4000-4200 Santa Monica Boulevard, Silver Lake (map).
Rear Window Cemetery Screening
Sure, Angel City Drive-In may be featuring Fight Club but who can turn down an Alfred Hitchcock screening in the cemetery? Jimmy Stewart’s boredom and nosiness gets him in trouble with the neighbors and Grace Kelly’s there as the elegant and standard Hitchockian blonde. Such a thrilling movie and no blood and gore involved!
- Gates open at 7pm. $10. Hollywood Forever Cemetery, 6000 Santa Monica Boulevard, Los Angeles (map).

Vote for Your Favorite L.A. Summer Cocktail
Bartenders from the hottest nightspots in our fine city compete in this contest by Angeleno Magazine to create the “Ultimate Cocktail.” Vote for your fave (and enter to win tickets to the victory bash) and the winner will be announced on September 1. Hmm, Pink Taco’s Burning Bush or Angel’s Angeleno by Windows Lounge? Sounds like some research may be required.
