Twenty wines and a concert at the Ford? Now, that’s a great date night or girls’ night out or something to do with Dad on Father’s Day. LearnAboutWine, the wine-educating Web site responsible for many a fun wine tasting event, is hosting Music & Wine From the Edge at the Ford where lovers of vino will be able to enjoy over 20 top wines while taking in a “Notes From the Edge” concert.
Before you dismiss this as an evening of classical music, know that “Notes From the Edge” actually is a string quartet and vocalist who perform classical interpretations of songs by artists you may actually like, i.e. Radiohead, Elvis Costello, Pink Floyd and the Killers. Fun!
At the event, you can check out all the different wines, pick one or two or three, and then break them open during the concert where you’re welcome to enjoy your own picnic. (Here’s CitySearch’s list of restaurants where you can pick up well-stocked picnic baskets/boxed dinners.) If you’re not much of a planner, there will also be food and additional beverages available for purchase at the theater.
Here’s a list of some of the available wines:
- Garretson Wine Company
- Super Star El Felino Mendoza Malbec
- Shoofly Shiraz
- Layer Cake Australian Shiraz – a LearnAboutWine favorite
- Domaine Janasse Cote du Rhone – big scores from Robert Parker
Tickets to the event cost $49 each BUT you can get ’em for just $29 through Goldstar. Or if you’re not much of a drinker, ya weirdo, and only want to go to the concert, click here for the $22-$27 tickets.
