Woot! The kickoff weekend to the summer is here (who cares if summer doesn’t officially begin til next month or if we’re looking at 60-degree weather). You want to celebrate summer so you’re probably going to check out Fiesta Hermosa at Hermosa Beach or the Jazz Reggae Fest at UCLA or Topanga Days or even a movie at the graveyard this weekend.
Or maybe you just want to laze about the pool listening to some cool tunes. If that’s the case, here are some hot pool parties going off this weekend, apart from the usual suspects Blue Velvet and the Standard on the Roof’s Sunday shindigs.

Release and Home:made present Wet Pool Party
The Wet Pool Party, formerly at the Roosevelt Hotel, has now taken up residence at The Custom Hotel’s Hopscotch Lounge. This Saturday, Andy Caldwell will spin some deep-house mixes with Julius Papp, Scott K and KCRW’s Raul Campos. There’s also an upstairs afterparty from 10pm-2am with more mashed-up music by John Day, Justin Gourley and resident DJ Wiseacre.

Launch of Jet Set Sundays at the Gateway Hotel
Every Sunday from Memorial Day to Labor Day, there will be a pool party complete with DJs, cocktails and appetizer specials at this airport-adjacent hotel. In celebration of its launch, for $15 you can enjoy an unlimited selection from the poolside menu. And ice cream bars and cones will be given away by the Good Humor Truck. Now only if we were back to those 90-degree days. BTW, if you’re so inclined to take a dip pool toys, as well as lounge chairs, are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you want to book a stay at the hotel for Saturday or Sunday, ask for the “Take the elevator home” rate to get the $99 special.
Memorial Weekend Pool Party at Hollywood Roosevelt’s Tropicana Bar
The Tropicana Bar is having not just one pool party but TWO, sponsored by 10 Cane Rum and Dim Mak, on Sunday and Monday with hot DJs galore.
