I’m going to be out of town this weekend — in hot and sweaty NYC for the Big Apple BBQ (I’ll miss you!) — but if you’re around, you might wanna check these out.
Friday, June 8
Guerilla Gay Bar Takeover
The anniversary party/most ambitious Guerrilla Gay Bar takeover happens at the uber-hetero Saddle Ranch, my fave spot for Sunday liquid brunching. Show up early to ensure a good spot for watching how gay boys ride the bull and bring $4 to give it a go yourself. Yee HAW! Friday night (Pride Weekend) on the Sunset Strip? It’s going to be crazy.
- 9:30pm. Saddle Ranch Chophouse, 8371 Sunset Boulevard, West Hollywood
Saturday, June 9

Night Vision: MOCA After Dark
After you pick up some cute outfits at the LF sale, you’ll probably feel like showing them off. Check out MOCA’s summer night series to convene with likeminded well-dressed hipsters. 7th Annual Los Angeles River Ride
This sounds like so much fun: riding your bike with 1,500 other cyclists along the L.A. river where you have fun rest stops along the way and live music and a gourmet barbecue ($8) at the end of the ride. Choose from a 15-mile, 45-mile or 70-mile ride and bike from Griffith Park to the LBC…and back.
- 7am-5pm. $35. Park Center at Griffith Park, 4730 Crystal Springs Drive, Los Angeles
