Sick of restaurants and all their rules? 1) Must sit with your own party, 2) Must sit in a chair, 3) Must order from the menu, 4) Must talk amongst yourselves…. So many rules! For a completely different dining experience you might want to look into Ghetto Gourmet, for “improvisational fine dining.”
With the Ghet, you get rules like 1) Bring your own butt pillow, 2) Bring your own bottle of booze/wine, 3) Wait til the day before your reservation to find out where you’re going to eat that night. It could be someone’s downtown loft or a home in the ‘burbs. Suffice it to say, it may not be for those who like structure with their meal.
Created in the Bay Area and talked about everywhere from Time magazine to the OC Register, the Ghet is returning to L.A. with 3-4 course meals ranging from a brunch in Arcadia to vegan night in Silverlake. It’ll be interesting to see what happens when you throw 35-40 Angeleno strangers together in a weird social situation. Sounds like an experience not to be missed. Some friends and I are checking out the Little Tokyo dinner to challenge ourselves. Hope to see you there!
