After 25 years in the wine business, the Wine House in ****West L.A.–my go-to place for last-minute housewarming Chardonnay or Hollywood Bowl Cabernet–has opened up a new restaurant/wine bar on its second level which before had been reserved for wine classes, seminars and catered private parties.
Simply called Upstairs 2, it will offer an everchanging list of 40 wines by the glass as well as tapas/small plates to complement the wines. Or you can purchase a bottle from the vast selection in the downstairs store and pay a $10 corkage fee ($15 for outside wine).
From the Wine House site:
Chef Todd Barrie, formerly of Joe’s Restaurant, enhances the menu with other delicious dishes that occasionally stray from the “Mostly Mediterranean” themed cuisine.
With all the wine bars in L.A., it’ll be interesting to see what a veteran in the wine industry, one long respected by wine aficionados, can do with its own restaurant. ****
