Bugatti, Bugatti, Bugatti. Bugatti kills wallets.
One of my favorite pastimes is shopping for my next luxury car at the L.A. auto show…well, at least in my dreams. This year, I’m in luck as the world’s most expensive car, the Bugatti Veyron, a $1.2 million 1,001-horsepower super sports car that can reach a top speed of 252 mph, will debut at this year’s show. Fellow debutantes will include the ’06 Lambo Gallardo Spyder and Porsche Cayman S. Le sigh. OK, I like fast cars. And I usually spend most of my time drooling over the high-end sports cars at the show. Unfortunately, the exhibits usually get so packed that I can never get close enough to the cars to cop a feel.
But I learned that the best time to go is during the work week, unfortunately. So unless you’re a hard-core car fan and are willing to take a day off from work to go (like I did last year), your next best bet to avoid the crowds is to go first thing on the weekend mornings and dash over to the hot car displays first. Yup, I learned that trick at Disneyland with respect to the Indiana Jones ride. But by getting to the cars first, you might even be able to sit in them, put your hands on the steering wheel, close your eyes, and just dream.
