Vidiots' Big 2-OH!: KCRW DJs Pick Their Favorite Movie Music of the Last 20 Years

— by Caroline on Crack

“The best video store in L.A., and maybe the country” is celebrating its 20th anniversary and what better co-host to celebrate with than other-fan-of-indie-music-and-film, KCRW?

KCRW on-air hosts Jason Bentley, Raul Campos, Gary Calamar, Tricia Halloran and Eric J. Lawrence will be talking about their favorite use of a song in a film during the last two decades, as well as their work with filmmakers and music supervision. And what would a tribute to film and music be without clips of great artistic choices merging film and music? After the panel, moderated by Vidiots Web site author Tom Cendejas, there will be a Q&A for all those wanting to know how to get such a cool job as film music supervisor. I wish they had Amanda Scheer Demme there. I wanna know how she got to be not only a music supervisor for films such as Garden State, but nightlife queen of clubs like the Tropicana Bar…and don’t say, “Being married to Ted Demme helped.”

To close the evening, there will be a reception featuring the turntable stylings of KCRW’s Dragnet host, Mr. Lawrence.

Admission is free so make sure to get there early.
