Calling All Lunatics: Full Moon Hike

On Monday night there will be a big, beautiful full moon and what better way to bask in moonbeams than to go on a moonlit hike? Treepeople.org is hosting its last Full Moon Hike of the season and since it’s almost Halloween, costumed hikers are welcome at this event. I’ve always wanted to check one of these out.

You’ve got three hikes to choose from depending on how fast or slow you want to go.

The slow-paced Lil’ Ghoul Hike, which is lead by Fairy Queen Sandy Lang, is for small children and families.

The moderate-paced Spooky Hike is for those with dogs on leashes.

The fast-paced Ghoulish Hike follows a 2-mile loop, ending with a steep descent. Hikers form a human chain and use team work to descend safely. Fun!

Hikers will meet in the amphitheatre at TreePeople’s headquarters, Coldwater Canyon Park, located at 12601 Mulholland Drive at Coldwater Canyon in Beverly Hills. After the hike, songwriter/peacemaker Stephen Longfellow Fiske will perform for everyone in the amphitheatre.

You can wear costumes but the Treepeople.org site asks that you also wear layered clothing and sturdy shoes. And don’t forget to bring a flashlight and water as well. Weather.com says there’s a chance of rain, hopefully that forecast changes the closer we get to Monday.
