AIDS Walk 2005 is this Sunday, people. You can still make a donation, join a team, sign up to volunteer or register as an individual walker on the Web site. I signed up with the UCLA team this year, ’cause Bruins care!
Register today to join Southern California’s largest AIDS fundraiser. Send the message that the AIDS crisis is not over and walk with more than 25,000 friends, family and coworkers to change the course of the epidemic.
This 10-kilometer (6.2 miles) AIDS Walk begins and ends in West Hollywood and aims to raise urgently needed funds to help prevent the spread of HIV and provide life-saving services for those living with and affected by HIV and AIDS.
Celebrities on hand for your amusement include: Jai Rodriguez from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Kristin Cavallari from MTV’s Laguna Beach, Rita Moreno, Hal Sparks from Queer as Folk, Doris Roberts, and others.
I’ve done this event for the past several years and it’s an awe-inspiring experience every time. All the hope and support demonstrated by the thousands of people who turn up is so moving. Whatever you can do to support this cause would be appreciated.
Also, in light of the Hurricane Katrina disaster, APLA will extend its annual grant process to include vital organizations serving people with HIV/AIDS in the devastated regions:
Montrose Clinic in Houston, Texas
NO/AIDS Task Force of New Orleans
AIDS Alabama
So your contributions will not only be felt in L.A. but in the Southeast, too.
And if you’d like to sponsor me (hee!), click on my AIDS Walk Donation Page. MWAH!
