This isn’t really a review either since I haven’t gone (and someone needs to come check it out with me) but I was looking on CitySearch (as usual) and came across this review for the Red Buddha Lounge in Hollywood. It used to be a club called Goldfingers that was kinda divey and they played ’80s dance music, but it was fun. And now they redid it so it’s an A-list Asian-themed bar like its neighbors Forbidden City and White Lotus. (What’s going on there in Hollywood? An Asian invasion? Not that that’s a bad thing.)
Excerpt from LA Times article:
DJs spin rock, hip-hop, R&B and ’80s music every night, with a promotion called Naughty on Saturdays and another, Gorgeous, debuting Sunday. It’s a glam-rock mixer run by promoters who have a knack for creating scenes that are inviting to both gay and straight crowds.
The only turn-off seems to be the fact that the “Duff sisters” (Hilary and whatever her sister is called) have been spotted there, as well as other celebs. What happened to the divey rock n’ roll bar of yore? It’s dead and gone. But what has sprouted in its place? A new, fun, hip dance club with red walls, lots of eye-candy potential and (apparently) no fascist doorman.
